Clogging is an American Folk Dance developed in the Appalachian Mountains and is a blend of Irish, African and European dance styles. Clogging was originally danced to live music. Although danced to all kinds of music, Bluegrass is still the traditional and most loved music used.
The Olympic Mountain Cloggers have been dancing and entertaining in the Port Angeles and Sequim areas since 1985. We have danced for many local festivities including the Clallam County Fair, Irrigation Festival, Lavender Festival and Arts in Action. Classes are held in Sequim at the Old Howard Wood Theater on Tuesday and Thursday nights. Alberta Stamp, the instructor/cuer is a Certified Clogging Instructor, having received her “CCI” at the 2007 National Clogging Convention in Nashville, TN.
